How the tiers work
Bybit assigns your commission tier based on the trading volume and quality of traffic you deliver. Entry-level tiers start around 30% and scale up to the published 50% ceiling for top affiliates. Very large affiliates (media companies, ad networks, high-volume signal groups) can negotiate custom deals with their account manager.
Spot vs derivatives — what actually pays
The percentage tier applies to fees on both spot and derivatives, but in practice derivatives are the bigger commission base: leveraged perpetuals generate fees on every trade and often on funding cycles, and traders tend to trade them more frequently than spot. That's why creators who convert derivatives-curious audiences typically out-earn pure spot channels at the same follower count.
A worked example
Imagine you refer 100 active traders in a month. On average they generate $50 in trading fees each — $5,000 total in fees. At a 40% commission tier, you earn $2,000 that month. Add a sub-affiliate under you earning $10,000 in commissions themselves — you take an extra $1,000 (10% override) on top. Payout: $3,000 in USDT, next month.
